I have wishfully hoped that I could follow through a strict vegetarian or raw diet regime for a month. It had not happened because I think I find it difficult for me to adjust. The maximum I could go was 2 days? So what I am doing now, instead of changing diet completely, I substitute at least 1 meal a day to vegetarian/raw diet. I do hope I can do like at least 10 days of strict vegetarian/raw diet. I was told that I could tell a lot of difference. I do hope eventually I can be a vegetarian or say, eating very minimal meat kind of person. Here it goes for Day 21:-breakfast:- 1 plate of assorted fried rice that has egg and some meat with curry chup chai, 1 piece of fried luncheon meat, 1 cup of teh-olunch:- 1 box of fried rice, 1 box of salad with sour sauce (is it the right term? it looks like mayo though) from Food#03snack:- 1 piece of handmade almond chocolate cookie (the colleague who offered me this, who is quite pretty, told me that guys need not slim down, how wrong can she be! =P)dinner:- 1 plate of steamed chicken rice with roasted porkI find that so far my dieting is an interesting journey. It has somehow coupled with spirituality. I got to know this guy from K at Food#03. K is a buddhist and he has been sharing how he adapt into vegetarian and has been giving me tips on how to make varieties like adding honey to coffee, to make things more tasty. It is afterall, the taste that we are going after. K mentioned that if I put too much pressure into telling myself to avoid taking meat, I will find it more difficult. This is because when we reject something, we are simply putting energy into it and allowing that thing to grow into a stronger desire. I think I have slowly moved out of that phase. Most of the grilled chicken set were taken under this sort of mind set. It's like I want to reward myself for staying put as vegetarian for a few days. But knowing that it seems to be a big contributor in fats, cholesterol and what-have-you, I still consume it! Day 21's dinner is a little different. It sort of become more mindful. There was less struggle in consuming it but more guilt after I had my first bite on it. So I think this mindfulness is an interesting thing that is running in the mind. However, K did tell me it's okay that I give myself a nice treat once in a while. Don't torture myself overboard. I like his emphasis on 大自在. 大自在, is a buddihst term that means the Great Liberation. It's interesting to see eating and spirituality combine. Okay la, it's a bit tad of scary too.Afterall, I have to buck up a bit more. This is because I have a bet with Snoopy that by the time he comes back from Thailand, I would have lost 15kg. That means I have to be around 85kg when he's back. I think he's coming back sometime in June or July. Wait, what have we bet on? Hmm.Tien, the boss and chef at Food#03 has been very encouraging also. I like that special weighing machine that he has. I am very concerned with the metabolic age thingy. I don't really mind what it means but to see I'm 50 years old is damn sad can?Haha.
